US-40; Fruitland Passing Lanes

In 2023 the Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) identified the need to improve safety and extend the passing lanes along US-40 near Fruitland, Utah. The design and environmental phase of the project commenced in March 2023 and is now complete.

As part of the safety improvements, UDOT plans to extend the eastbound and westbound passing lanes between 45000 West and 47000 West. US-40 between 45000 West and 47000 West will likely need to be widened in some sections to accommodate the extended passing lanes.

This project will also reconfigure the intersections of 45000 West, 46000 West and 47000 West. Safety improvements will include the addition of left-hand turn lanes, an eastbound right-hand turn lane at 45000 West, right-hand turn lanes in both directions at 46000 West, an eastbound right-hand turn lane at 47000 West, and acceleration lanes for traffic merging onto US-40
