UDOT is increasing safety on US-40 in Fruitland, Utah, by extending passing lanes and adding dedicated turn and acceleration lanes at key intersections.

Project Overview
We are improving safety on U.S. Route 40, in Fruitland Utah. Some of the improvements include widening sections of US-40 to extend the east and westbound passing lanes between 45000 West and 47000 West. Improvements will also be made to intersections by adding left-hand turn lanes throughout the project area, an eastbound right-hand turn lane at 45000 West, a right-hand turn lanes in both directions at 46000 West, an eastbound right-hand turn lane at 47000 West, and acceleration lanes for traffic merging onto US-40.
What to Expect During Construction
- Work is will occur Monday - Friday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. with weekend work possible.
- Two lanes in each direction will be maintained when possible but drivers should anticipate lane shifting, lane closures, and one-way flagging with a pilot car.
- A 12 foot wide lane will be maintained for large vehicle traffic.
- Reduced speed limit of 55 mph through the work area
