US-189 Improved
US-189 Improved
US-189; Wallsburg to Charleston
UDOT is currently in the process of conducting a state environmental study (SES) and developing a roadway design to improve vehicle capacity and address safety deficiencies on US-189 between mile reference posts 22.3 and 25.5 in Wasatch County, near Deer Creek Reservoir.
Project improvements include:
Widening US-189 to include two travel lanes in each direction, for the northbound and southbound traffic.
Intersection and roadway curvature safety improvements.
Significant hillside excavation and rock cutting to accommodate the road widening.
Note: The excavated hillside soils would be placed along the east side of US-189 and then shaped and vegetated to match the surrounding hillside conditions. Click this link to see a visual example of how the excavated hillside soils would look.
Signalizing the US-189 and SR-113 intersection.
Enhancing the Island Beach Day Use Area entrance.
Installing wildlife protection measures.
