Project Overview 

The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) will widen State Route (SR) 36 between Sunset Lane and Stansbury Park, improve and resurface intersections on northbound and southbound SR-36 and add an auxiliary lane on eastbound I-80 from SR-36 to the SR-201 exit. This project is being done to improve mobility and reduce congestion for drivers. Construction will be done in phases and continue through 2026.

Project Schedule

 

Northbound SR-36 and Eastbound I-80 Construction Begins

Starting as early as Monday, June 16, crews will begin construction on northbound State Route (SR) 36 between Interstate 80 (I-80) and Stansbury Parkway in Tooele County. Construction is anticipated to continue through summer 2026.

WHAT TO EXPECT: 

  • Day work Monday through Friday with night work as needed
    • 7 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.
  •  Lane closures as needed
  • Increased noise, dust, and vibration
  • Travel delays
  • Reduced lane widths and shoulders on eastbound I-80

 

Southbound SR-36 Completion

Crews will complete construction on southbound SR-36 in summer 2025.

Construction: 2025 to 2026

 

  • Starting Monday, June 16, construction will begin on northbound SR-36 between Interstate 80 (I-80) and Stansbury Parkway. 
    • Intersections will be improved and resurfaced after widening.
    • An auxillary lane will be added to eastbound I-80 from SR-36 to the SR-201 exit.
