We heard your feedback and concerns about delays on SR-36. Starting this afternoon, Dec. 10, traffic on SR-36 will go back to its previous configuration. Our trucks will now use a temporary U-turn on I-80 to get into the work zone instead of accessing it from SR-36. This new approach will require single left-turn closures on I-80 to keep trucks and drivers safe. The westbound lane closure will open by 5 p.m. every day. Eastbound traffic will remain reduced to one lane and shifted around active work.

Drivers should follow posted signage, maintain a safe distance from slow-moving trucks on I-80, and avoid following trucks into the work zone.

We are hopeful this change will alleviate some congestion on SR-36, but please continue to give yourselves extra time to travel through the work zone.
