Interstate 80 - Parleys Canyon Technology

The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) is upgrading the infrastructure including conduits and fiber optic cables for the Variable Speed Limit (VSL) signs along I-80 in Parleys Canyon. These signs allow UDOT to remotely adjust speed limits in the canyon according to weather conditions or other events impacting traffic. 

The project is scheduled to begin as early as Monday, June 5, 2023, and last through September. Work will mainly take place in the shoulder of the road during daytime hours, with infrequent single lane closures on eastbound and westbound I-80 as needed. Drivers should remain cautious when driving past the work zones as trucks may be exiting and entering the freeway.
