Project Overview

The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) is widening US-89 (State Street) to a 7-lane section from 220 South in Pleasant Grove to 500 East in American Fork in two phases. The project will alleviate traffic by widening the road to three lanes in each direction to match existing sections on either end; upgrade signals at 500 East, 700 East, North County Boulevard, 1300 West, and Pleasant Grove Boulevard; add new curb, gutter, and sidewalk on the south side, add new storm drain, and add new/upgrade pedestrian ramps.

Phase 1:

The following intersections have been widened to help reduce congestion:

  • 500 East at State Street in American Fork in 2025.
  • Pleasant Grove Boulevard at State Street in 2025.
  • 1650 West to 1300 West in 2025
  • State Street will receive a new pavement layer between the intersections.

Phase 2:

  • Phase 2 from 1650 West in Pleasant Grove to 600 East in American Fork is currently in design with construction planned in 2026. 1300 West will be widened during phase 2.
