Traffic Alert: Beginning Friday, May 9, at 9 a.m., State Street will be reduced to one lane in each direction between 1300 West and Pleasant Grove Boulevard. Traffic will be shifted to the north side until Saturday night when it will be shifted to the south onto the new asphalt with two lanes in each direction. There will be no left turns onto 1300 West during this work.
Project Activities*
- Utility crews are excavating west of 500 East on the south side for drainage installation. Single lane closures will be used during this activity.

Project Overview
The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) is widening US-89 (State Street) to a 7-lane section from 220 South in Pleasant Grove to 500 East in American Fork in two phases. The project will eliminate a choke-point by widening the road to three lanes in each direction to match existing sections on either end; upgrade signals at 500 East, 700 East, North County Boulevard, 1300 West, and Pleasant Grove Boulevard; add new curb, gutter, and sidewalk on the south side, add new storm drain, and add new/upgrade pedestrian ramps.
Phase 1:
The following intersections will be widened to help reduce congestion:
- 500 East at State Street in American Fork in 2024.
- Pleasant Grove Boulevard at State Street in 2024.
- 1650 West to 1300 West
- State Street will receive a new pavement layer between the intersections.

State Street*: The asphalt was removed and replaced along State Street in the following locations:
- Pleasant Grove Boulevard to 200 South in Lindon/2000 North in Orem in 2023. and 800 North and 100 North in Orem in 2023.
Project Activities:
- This project was completed in 2023.
*A future project to widen State Street between Pleasant Grove Boulevard and 500 East to three lanes in each direction, add bike lanes, new curb, gutter, and sidewalk on the south side, new storm drain, and pedestrian ramps is planned, pending final agreements with Union Pacific Railroad.
