Project Overview

The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) will resurface US-89 in Weber County from 2nd Street to Wall Avenue. The project objectives are aimed at preserving the life of the road. This paving process will help increase the longevity of the road surface and enhance motorist safety by providing a smoother driving surface. Additional work includes ADA sidewalk ramp upgrades, and restriping throughout the project area.

Construction began on August 3 and is expected to be completed by early October. The bulk of the work is ongoing and expected  mid-September, followed by a 21–30-day break before final activities.

Crews began daytime work on North Street, then moved northwest to Wall Avenue before completing the ramps between 2nd Street and North Street. Multiple ramps were worked on simultaneously. Daytime work is now complete.

Nighttime work began near Wall Avenue and is progressing south toward 2nd Street. Crews will circle back through the corridor several times as they complete the remaining work.

*No parking will be allowed on the street during construction hours for the duration of the project.

Construction Phase: August - October 2026

08/03/26: Work begins at the job site and initial mobilization activities take place.

  • Nighttime Work: Road reconstruction begins, including roadway removal and replacement activities.
  • Daytime Work: Sidewalk deconstruction begins, with sidewalks and shoulders closed in active work areas. Complete 08/07.

**There will be a 21–30 day dedicated project break once major construction activities conclude in late August/early September. After the break, crews will return to restripe the area and complete any remaining miscellaneous tasks.

Weekly Traffic Impacts: 08/10 - 08/14

During Nighttime Construction Hours:

  • One lane will be closed in both directions overnight, with traffic guided by flaggers, barrels and signage.
  • One lane will remain open at all times in both directions.
  • Extra noise and light should be expected as crews move throughout the project area.

During Daytime Construction (Complete 08/07/26):

  • For the most part, all regular operative lanes will be open as crews work on the shoulder/sidewalks in the area.
  • There may be some brief closures near the in early-August as the crews prep the road for nightwork.
  • Turn lanes may be closed for equipment—watch for barrels and signage.
  • Extra noise should be expected as crews deconstruct the preexisting pedestrian ramps and rebuild them to meet ADA requirements.
