Project Overview
The Utah Department of Transportation is proposing to use federal funds to make safety improvements on U.S. Route 6 near Carbonville. The project will introduce a restricted crossing U-turn (RCUT), a design intended to reduce serious crashes by limiting high-risk turning and crossing movements from cross-street approaches onto US-6.
The proposed safety improvement would restrict left turns onto US-6 from Spring Glen Road and Country Club Road. Drivers entering US-6 from these roads would instead turn right and use designated U-turn areas at Consumers Road or Carbonville Road to travel in the desired direction. The improvements would not change access for travelers on US-6, and left-hand turns from US-6 would remain available where currently allowed.
During the project, crews will install Advanced Warning Systems (AWS) near the U-turn areas for safety. Crews will also make lighting, drainage, and signage improvements throughout the project area and overlay new pavement on the road with updated road striping.
