Overview

U.S. Route 40 Culvert Maintenance

Work has begun to repair multiple culverts along US-40 in Summit County that have deteriorated due to corrosion from sediment and debris-laden flood waters. These repairs will increase drainage function and improve roadway safety. Maintaining the roadway drainage system is critical to the long-term structural integrity of the highway system.

Due to the increasingly cold weather, the project will pause for the winter by December 20. Work will resume in spring 2026.

Road shoulders along US-40 may be closed during work hours in the highlighted area shown in the map below.

Work includes lining and repairing the culverts, replacing storm drain infrastructure and grading the median to accommodate the drainage flow.

Construction began August 11, 2025.
