Project Overview

The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) is proposing a project to construct three segments of 42-inch concrete barrier in the median along US-189 in Wasatch County, UT.

If constructed, the new concrete barrier would help reduce or eliminate crossover accidents along this section of high-speed highway that grows increasingly busier as increased communities connect to Heber Valley and surrounding recreational areas. This is a federally funded project sponsored by the Highway Safety Improvement Program (HSIP), whose purpose is to achieve a significant reduction in traffic fatalities and serious injuries on public roads.

The environmental review, consultation, and other actions required by applicable Federal environmental laws for this project are being, or have been, carried out by UDOT pursuant to 23 U.S.C. 327 and a Memorandum of Understanding dated June 12, 2023, and executed by FHWA and UDOT.
