Project Description

The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) will be implementing safety enhancements within Ogden Canyon during the Summer of 2024. The first objective is to install centerline sinusodial rumble strips from MP 8.8 to 44.5 (see image below). Center line rumble strips are placed as a countermeasure for driver error. They are designed primarily to assist distracted, drowsy, or otherwise inattentive drivers who unintentionally veer across the center line. Sinusoidal rumble strips generate lower noise levels compared to the standard semi-circular shape. This is crucial, especially near residential areas and other noise-sensitive locations. The audible and vibratory warning produced by these strips greatly improves the chances of a quick and safe return to the correct lane.  Traversable by Motorcyclists and Bicyclists: Unlike some traditional rumble strips, the sinusoidal design allows safe traversability for motorcyclists and bicyclists.   Refreshed lane and roadway painting/striping will be applied following the work.
