Full Intersection Closure

The State Street and 300 North intersection in Salt Lake City will be closed from 6:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, May 17, and Sunday, May 18, while crews complete final pavement treatments for the new roundabout. Drivers, including State of Utah employees and Capitol visitors, should use Main Street as a detour during this closure.

The treatments include microsurfacing to seal the concrete pavement and extend the life of the road.

Pedestrian Information

Please obey all posted signage and do not enter the work zone at any time. Crosswalks at the East Capitol Boulevard and 300 North intersection, and the Main Street and 300 North intersection will be available for use.

Construction activities are dependent on a variety of factors and subject to change.

Project Overview

The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT), in partnership with the Capitol Preservation Board (CPB) and the Utah Division of Facilities Construction and Management (DFCM), built a new, single-lane roundabout at State Street and 300 North in Salt Lake City, in front of the Utah State Capitol building.

The roundabout is designed to enhance safety at this busy intersection for all users.

In coordination with the roundabout project, the DFCM relocated the State of Utah wall to allow more space for gatherings and photography opportunities. These efforts combine to create a welcoming environment for residents and Capitol visitors.
