Project Overview 

The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) will widen State Route (SR) 36 between Sunset Lane and Stansbury Park, improve and resurface intersections on northbound SR-36 and add an auxiliary lane on eastbound I-80 from SR-36 to the SR-201 exit. This project is being done to improve mobility and reduce congestion for drivers. Construction will be done in phases and continue through 2025.

Project Schedule

 

Construction on Southbound SR-36 Resumes

Starting as early as Monday, Feb. 3, construction will resume on southbound SR-36 between Sunset Road and Stansbury Parkway in Tooele County. Construction is anticipated to continue through summer 2025.

WHAT TO EXPECT: 

  • Daywork Monday - Saturday from 7 a.m. to 6 pm.
  • Daytime lane closures until 1 p.m., as needed
  • Minor travel delays  
  • Increased noise, dust, and vibration 

Construction on Northbound SR-36 Starts Summer 2025

Starting in summer 2025, crews will begin widening northbound SR-36 between Sunset Lane and Stansbury Parkway, improving and resurfacing intersections, and adding an auxiliary lane on eastbound I-80 from SR-36 to the SR-201 exit.

  • Southbound SR-36 will be widened to three lanes between Sunset Lane and Stansbury Parkway.
  • Northbound SR-36 will be widened to three lanes between Stansbury Parkway and the eastbound I-80 on-ramp.
  • Intersections will be improved and resurfaced after widening.
  • An auxillary lane will be added to eastbound I-80 from SR-36 to the SR-201 exit.
