Third Lane on Eastbound I-80 Opening 

The new third lane will open on eastbound I-80 from SR-36 to SR-201 as early as Monday, Feb. 2. While this is a big milestone for the project, you can expect to still see crews working on the shoulder of I-80 through spring 2026. 


Please plan ahead for this change and use caution while driving next to the work zone. 


 

WHAT TO EXPECT DURING NORTHBOUND SR-36 AND EASTBOUND I-80 CONSTRUCTION: 

  • Day work on eastbound I-80 and northbound SR-36
    • Monday through Friday 
      • 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. 
  • Lane closures as needed
  • Increased noise, dust, and vibration
  • Travel delays
  • Reduced lane widths and shoulders on eastbound I-80

Construction: 2025 to 2026

 

  • Starting Monday, June 16, construction will begin on northbound SR-36 between Interstate 80 (I-80) and Stansbury Parkway. 
    • Intersections will be improved and resurfaced after widening.
    • An auxillary lane will be added to eastbound I-80 from SR-36 to the SR-201 exit.
