SR-143 Parowan Canyon Safety Project
A Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) road construction contractor is doing flood repair work on an eight-mile segment of State Route 143 in Parowan Canyon. Crews are working on replacing four culvert pipes and repairing damaged barrier walls between Parowan and Brian Head during the 2024 construction season. This project will repair damage caused by flooding in 2022 and improve drainage for the corridor.
Crews are replacing four culvert pipes at mileposts 4,9.5 and 12, and repairing and replacing several barrier walls. The project began in January and work was suspended for a few weeks during February. Crews resumed work the first week of March and will continue throughout the summer. Construction schedules are subject to change due to weather conditions and material availability.
The public is encouraged to visit the UDOT Traffic website or app at udottraffic.utah.gov for current closure status and construction activities.
