Project Description
Spanish Fork Main Street has a higher-than-average crash rate when compared to similar streets of its kind. Additionally, the pavement and underground utilities have reached the end of their service life. Spanish Fork City and the Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) are working together to design an improved Main Street to address these issues between 1000 North and 300 South.
Main Street rehabilitation is expected to include replacing the aging pavement and underground utilities, improving safety, and adding more comfortable pedestrian facilities, landscaping, and signage through the entire corridor. Phase 1 of this project, from 1000 North to 600 North could be built in 2028. Spanish Fork City is currently applying for additional funding to address other phases of the corridor.
Business Workshop and Open House
Thank you to those who attended the Spanish Fork Main Street project events at the Spanish Fork Library on February 19! View the meeting materials here.
We received a lot of feedback on the concept design from business owners and residents, including the following public priorities:
- Keep parking on Main Street
- Add designated left-turn arrows at existing traffic signals
- Improve access from Main Street to I-15
- Add more east/west crosswalks between 400 North and 800 North
- Keep traffic moving
We also received a lot of questions about the types of crashes on Main Street and how medians would reduce them. We’ve added information about this and other questions in the FAQ tab above. This video also explains how medians improve safety.
