Public Comment Period Open
A 30-day public comment period is currently open from September 6 to October 6, 2023. Information on how to submit a comment is available on the "How to Comment Tab."
Overview
The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) is preparing an Environmental Assessment (EA), in accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), to evaluate potential improvements to the South Cedar Interchange (Exit 57) of I-15 in Cedar City. This EA considers current and future transportation needs while taking into account any potential impacts to the natural and built environments.
This EA began in summer 2023 and is scheduled for completion in summer 2024. View the "Schedule Tab" for more details.
As part of the Scoping Phase of this Environmental Assessment, UDOT hosted two public scoping meetings on September 6th and 7th to present information on the environmental process, the main drivers for this effort, and initial design concepts. A video recording of the online meeting and the presentation materials are available to view on the "Public Meetings Tab."
Public Involvement during an Environmental Assessment
There are multiple opportunities for the public to be involved in an Environmental Assessment (EA). In addition to the two formal comment periods, UDOT has created specific communication channels to allow the public direct access to the team at any point throughout the study.
