Progressing Toward 60% Design Completion

This winter, the South Cedar Interchange Improved project will continue advancing toward 60% design completion. The project team is working on detailed plans for project elements, including roadway and sidewalk improvements, utility relocations, Right-of-Way design, and stormwater management features. These steps keep the project on track for construction to begin in spring 2027.

What is "Design-Bid-Build?"

This project follows a "design-bid-build" process, a traditional UDOT project delivery method. This means that the design and construction phases of a project are separated into two distinct contracts.

The project is in the design contract phase, which will continue through late 2026. This phase determines plans and schedules for project elements such as:

Geotechnical surveying

Roadway alignments

Environmental compliance measures

Right-of-Way negotiations and discussions

Final interchange design

After design plans and specifications are finalized, UDOT aims to advertise the project for a construction bid in the fall of 2026. The construction phase is then anticipated to start in the spring of 2027 and continue through late 2028

For any additional questions on initial survey activity, please reach out to the project team at 435-599-7739 or southcedar@utah.gov.
