PROJECT OVERVIEW
The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT), in coordination with the Utah Transit Authority (UTA), is working to connect Union Pacific Railroad's (UPRR's) Sharp and Tintic Lines in Springville and Spanish Fork. This connection will improve safety and mobility by permanently closing seven at-grade railroad crossings along the existing Tintic Line.
PROJECT FACTS
- The project will construct nearly 4,000 feet of new track.
- The new track will be UTA-owned and UPRR-operated.
- The project will remove track at five public and two private at-grade railroad crossings along the Tintic Line between Williams Lane and 400 South.
- Over 2 miles of the Tintic Line will no longer be in service in Springville and Spanish Fork.
SCHEDULE
UDOT is working closely with UTA, UPRR, Spanish Fork City, and Springville City to determine the timeline for design and construction. A public hearing is scheduled for Aug. 19, 2025 to share more information and provide opportunity for public comment (see the top header for more information).
