PROJECT OVERVIEW

The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT), in coordination with the Utah Transit Authority (UTA), is working to connect Union Pacific Railroad's (UPRR's) Sharp and Tintic Lines in Springville and Spanish Fork. This connection will enable future transit in southern Utah County and improve safety by eliminating at-grade railroad crossings.

PROJECT FACTS

  • The project will construct nearly 4,000 feet of new track.
  • The new track will be UTA-owned and provide freight and future transit service.
  • The project will remove track at five public at-grade railroad crossings along the Tintic Line between Williams Lane and 700 South.
  • Over 2 miles of the Tintic Line will no longer be in service in Springville and Spanish Fork.

SCHEDULE

UDOT is working closely with UTA, UPRR, Spanish Fork City, and Springville City to determine the timeline for design and construction. More information will be available early 2025.
