I-84 Mountain Green Environmental Study
I-84 Mountain Green Environmental Study
Study Overview
The 1970 National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) outlines a process that assists transportation officials in making balanced decisions for federally funded highway projects. The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) has initiated a pre-NEPA study to evaluate highway and interstate mobility improvements on Interstate 84 (I-84) in Mountain Green, Utah. The initial pre-NEPA study goals include: 1) identifying the project’s purpose and need, 2) continued project public outreach, 3) compiling different designs and concepts to best deliver the project, and 4) determining the appropriate NEPA Class of Action to support a future project.
When the outlined goals have been achieved, UDOT would prepare a NEPA compliant environmental document that evaluates a design concept and assesses the potential impacts on the human, physical, and natural environments. This evaluation would also consider the effects of taking no action.
