U.S. Route 89 Southwest Kane County Improved Project
The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) is proposing two projects that include improvements along U.S. Route 89 in Southwest Kane County. One project's proposed improvements include the addition of a southbound passing lane on U.S. Route 89 and the installation of a multi-use path along the west side of U.S. Route 89 between Muddy Creek Wash and Orderville (from about mile post 83.5 to 85). The other project's proposed improvements include the installation of a multi-purpose path along the west side of U.S. Route 89 from Mt. Carmel Junction to Muddy Creek Wash.
Utah Trail Network
The trail improvements included in both projects were identified and would be constructed through the Utah Trail Network. The necessity for trail improvements was determined in the Long Valley Master Plan and Long Valley Active Transportation Plan. The proposed trail in this area was included in the Utah Trail Network based on its ability to improve connectivity to adjacent communities and its prior identification in a Regional or Long Range Transportation Plan.
