The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) and Murray City are working together to make safety improvements and improve traffic flow at the intersection of 5300 South and College Drive. This work will include widening both 5300 South and College Drive, adding an additional left-turn lane and a right-turn-only lane on 5300 South and an additional left-turn lane on College Drive. The project will also include new sidewalks in some areas as well as updated signals for the intersection.

Upcoming Project Activities*

Motorists can expect alternating single and double lane closures in both directions this weekend (Thursday through Tuesday, July 13 - 18) depending on the work. Lane closures will occur during the day from 6 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Friday night, July 14, from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Motorists are advised to use alternate routes where possible. Construction Activities include:

• Thursday, July 13, crews will remove the concrete median curb along 5300 South.
• Friday, July 14, crews will pave new asphalt on 5300 South and College Drive along the new curb and gutter.
• Friday night, July 14, beginning at 8 p.m. through 5 a.m., crews will begin removing asphalt on 5300 South. 5300 South will be reduced to one lane in both directions during this work. Temporary traffic control will be in place to delineate lanes on Saturday, July 15, until Sunday, July 16, when crews return to pave and restripe 5300 South.
• Monday and Tuesday, July 17 and 18, crews will work on replacing the concrete median barrier on 5300 South.
• Once paving and striping are complete both 5300 South and College Drive will be widened with College Drive gaining a new left-turn lane and 5300 South gaining a new left-turn lane and right-turn only lane.
• College Drive at 5300 South is still closed until July 27. The detour route is below.
