PROJECT OVERVIEW:
The Utah Department of Transportation will be replacing the existing box culvert for Summit Creek that crosses beneath US-91 (Smithfield Main Street) near 100 North. Construction will consist of removing and replacing the culvert and related work along Summit Creek coupled with the replacement of the asphalt road surface and sidewalks at the crossing.
TIMELINE:
Replacement of the culvert is scheduled to begin mid- to late-June with an anticipated completion date toward the end of the year. Any delays related to weather, equipment, or other unforeseen events will be updated here.
TRAFFIC IMPACTS:
The project will reduce the traffic to one lane in each direction through the work zone. Please reduce your speed, plan for minor delays, and watch for workers and flaggers in the area. Shifts in traffic patterns can be expected in and near the work zone. Please be mindful for changing traffic patterns and reduce speed in work zones.
SAFE WALKING ROUTE:
The project area is within the Safe Walking Route for Summit Elementary School and we are closely working with the school administration on any issues that may arise. The Safe Walking Route will be maintained and we encourage parents to speak with their children about safety within work zones. You can visit the Safe Routes Utah website to learn more. Any dangerous conditions should be reported to the project hotline immediately at 888.752.8789 during business hours.
AREA IMPACTS:
Area businesses and residents can expect an increase in noise, vibration, and dust while crews work nearby.
