Sticker Partners
Thank you for being a partner for the 26/27 UDOT Sticker Program. This website is a resource for sticker program partners, please contact us with any questions at udotstickerprogram@utah.gov.
About the Sticker Program
The UDOT Cottonwood Canyons sticker program is a winter safety, preparedness and education program for the Cottonwood Canyons that is free of charge, completely voluntary, and inspections will run from Nov. 9, 2026 to Feb. 28, 2027.
Sandy City and Cottonwood Heights help UDOT enforce the Traction Law by sending police officers to inspect vehicles at the mouths of Big and Little Cottonwood Canyons.
Checking vehicle tires through the sticker program gives UDOT an opportunity to educate drivers about the Traction Law and to ensure their vehicles are properly equipped for safe winter driving.
Getting a sticker will reduce how long it takes officers to check for compliance during enforcement.
Inspection Information For Partners
The program is free and voluntary for participants, where we purchase the stickers and authorize local tire shops to distribute stickers to those that meet the requirements. Stickers are not required to travel on any road in Utah.
- Participants arrive at the inspection location that they signed up for and ask to have their vehicle’s tires inspected as part of the UDOT sticker program.
- Tire shop employees will inspect tires and place stickers on vehicles that meet the requirements of the program. Stickers will be placed on the drivers side windshield following the placement guidelines on the partner factsheet.
- If a vehicle is not properly equipped for winter driving and fails to meet the requirements of the sticker program, the driver can choose to purchase compliant tires/traction devices at the business of their choice and then visit/return to a participating sticker inspection location or opt out of the program.
- It is NOT appropriate to make a purchase a requirement for receiving a sticker. It IS appropriate to offer upgrades, products and/or services.
- Participating businesses should NOT:
- Charge for the inspection of the tires as part of the sticker program.
- Collect participant information for marketing purposes without consent.
- Use sticker program inspections to pressure motorists to upgrade tires or purchase other products and services.
