Project Overview

The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) will replace the eastbound and westbound Interstate 80 bridges at the Jeremy Ranch interchange in Summit County. The goal of this project is to replace aging infrastructure and provide a smoother ride for drivers. These bridges are key travel routes that will require innovative approaches to minimize user impacts during construction.

Both bridges will be replaced using the Accelerated Bridge Construction (ABC) method. This means that the new bridges will be built next to the existing freeway and then slid into place after their construction is completed. This project will require short-term closures of I-80 and Homestead Road but will reduce long-term traffic impacts overall.

What to Expect During Construction

  • Lane closures on I-80 and Homestead Road

  • Increased noise, dust, and vibration in the project area

  • Up to two weekends of full road closures on I-80 and Homestead Road

  • Intermittent trail closures

  • Traffic pattern shifts

  • Trucks entering and exiting the work zone

Timeline

The design phase of this project began in October 2024 and will last through August 2025. Construction is anticipated to begin in late 2025 and continue through late 2027.
