Overview
Project Overview
The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) is repairing several bridge structures along I-15 and I-80 in Salt Lake County. These repairs will improve safety and preserve important transportation infrastructure.
Work includes repairing damaged concrete, replacing bridge expansion joints, repairing concrete barriers, restoring pavement markings, and completing other structural improvements designed to extend the service life of these bridges.
Why is this project needed?
Bridge expansion joints allow bridges to safely expand and contract as temperatures change. Over time, concrete surfaces and expansion joints wear down due to traffic, weather, and normal use. These repairs help maintain safe driving conditions and extend the life of the bridges.
Project Improvements
- Repairing deteriorated concrete bridge surfaces.
- Replacing worn bridge expansion joints to improve bridge performance and allow for normal movement caused by traffic and temperature changes.
- Completing structural concrete repairs, including full and partial concrete replacement where needed.
- Repairing and rebuilding concrete barriers.
Project Locations
Construction will occur at:
- I-80 westbound Collector-Distributor (CD) road over West Temple Street and the railroad tracks
- I-15 northbound Collector-Distributor (CD) road over 7200 South in Midvale
Additional work areas may be added throughout construction.
Construction Schedule
Construction began Monday, August 3, 2026.
Most construction activities will occur overnight to reduce impacts to daytime traffic while allowing crews to safely complete repairs. Once finished, these improvements will help provide a smoother ride, improve roadway safety, and extend the lifespan of the bridge structures for years to come.
Travelers can expect lane closures overnight and in the early morning. Please plan for extra travel time between 8 PM–5 AM on weekdays and extended hours on weekends.
Schedules are weather-dependent and subject to change.

Drivers should expect:
- Overnight lane closures
- Reduced speeds through work zones
- Occasional delays
- Construction equipment and workers on the roadway

Sunday: Throughout the day and evening

Monday - Wednesday, Saturday - Sunday
