Project Overview

The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) is starting a major construction rehabilitation project on I-215 West from SR-201 to North Temple. Project Elements include:

  • Roadway reconstruction
  • Rehabilitation of 30 bridges
  • Repaving 25 miles on mainline I-215
  • Pavement reconstruction on 14 miles of ramps on I-80 and California Avenue

Upcoming Traffic Impacts: Ramp Closures*

*Construction schedules are subject to change.

As part of the I-215 and I-80 interchange, 11 bridges in this area need to be improved. To allow for a safe construction zone and to provide an efficient construction duration, the ramps in this area will intermittently close through August 2026*Details of each ramp closure are included below. During these closures, please allow extra time when traveling in the area or consider an alternate route.

Southbound I-215 Ramps to Westbound and Eastbound I-80

  • On Monday, May 11 at 5 a.m., the southbound I-215 ramps to westbound and eastbound I-80 are expected to be closed through June 9

SR-201 Southbound Off-Ramp

  • In early-June, for approximately two weeks, the southbound I-215 to westbound SR-201 ramp is expected to be closed

Ongoing Traffic Impacts*

I-215 Southbound California Avenue Off-Ramp and On-Ramp

  • The southbound I-215 California Avenue off-ramp is closed and is expected to open May 12
  • The southbound I-215 California Avenue on-ramp is closed and is expected to open May 18

I-80 Eastbound Ramp to Southbound I-215

  • The eastbound I-80 ramp to southbound I-215 is closed and is expected to open May 18

I-80 Westbound Ramp to Southbound I-215

  • The westbound I-80 ramp to southbound I-215 is closed and is expected to open mid-August

Redwood Road to Southbound I-215

  • The ramp from Redwood Road to southbound I-215 is closed and is expected to open May 22

Redwood Road to Northbound I-215

  • The ramp from Redwood Road to northbound I-215 will be closed through July 2027

  • All traffic is shifted to the east side of I-215 through next Summer.
  • Expect overnight lane and ramp closures.

 

Ongoing Local Street Traffic Impacts*

The bridges over each of the streets below are being rehabilitated. Expect various restrictions during construction activities. 

    Cross Street Closures

    • 500 South: Expect intermittent traffic restrictions and lane shifts through the end of May
    • Indiana Avenue: Expect intermittent traffic restrictions and lane shifts through the end of May
    • California Avenue: Expect intermittent turning movement restrictions and lane shifts through the end of May
    • 1700 South: Expect intermittent traffic restrictions and lane shifts through the end of May​​​​​​​

    Project Overview

    • Roadway reconstruction
    • Rehabilitation of 30 bridges
    • Pavement reconstruction on 14 miles of ramps on I-80 and California Avenue
    • New southbound auxiliary lane from 700 North to westbound I-80
