CONSTRUCTION UPDATES

EAST FRONT ROAD CLOSURE 

The east frontage road (1950 West) is closed south of 1455 South in Springville to accommodate utility relocations and other construction activities in this area. Drivers can use the temporary turnaround and signed detour provided to navigate the area (see map). Businesses along 1950 West will remain open during this time. The east frontage road will remain closed through late summer 2024.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Throughout the construction, the public can expect:

  • Day work Monday - Friday, 7 a.m. - 6 p.m. (weekend and night work as needed)
  • Minor traffic impacts
  • Increased noise and vibrations
  • Minor utility impacts and service disruptions

 

PROJECT OVERVIEW

The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) is constructing a new I-15 Interchange at 1600 South/2700 North and widening the road from Main Street in Spanish Fork to the Union Pacific Railroad (UPRR) Tintic Line in Springville. Improvements will include:

  • Realign and construct northeast, northwest and southwest frontage roads
  • Construct a new bridge over the Union Pacific Railroad (UPRR) Sharp Line 
  • Construct a 10-foot-wide shared use path on the north side of 1600 South/2700 North within the project area
  • Construct a noise wall from approximately 1120 West to 950 West
  • Construct a new drainage system
  • Relocate and upgrade overhead power lines

 

PHASING

These improveents are being constructed in three phases to reduce risk and the overall construction duration (see phasing map). Phase 1 is anticipated to be completed by late 2024 and phase 2 completed by late 2026. No funding has been identified for Phase 3 at this time.
