Project Overview

The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) is installing a new Variable Message Sign (VMS) above southbound I-15 between 12300 South and Bangerter Highway. The overhead sign will provide real-time travel information, such as traffic conditions, incidents, weather impacts, and travel advisories, to improve communication with drivers and support safer, more informed travel decisions. This project is part of ongoing efforts to enhance mobility, safety, and traffic management along the I-15 corridor. Construction began on July 20, 2026.

What to Expect

  • Overnight construction activities along I-15
  • Intermittent lane and shoulder closures
  • Short-term daytime work on Pony Express Road
  • Heavy equipment, support vehicles, and crews working in the area

Traffic Impacts

Pony Express Road

  • A temporary lane shift remains in place on Pony Express Road between 12300 S. and 12650 S. to accommodate I-15 construction activities.
  • Please use caution when traveling through the area.

I-15 Between 12300 S. and Bangerter Hwy.

  • Motorists should expect overnight intermittent lane shifts and closures on I-15 between 12300 S. and Bangerter Hwy. on Tuesday, August 18 from 9 p.m. through the early morning hours.
  • Daytime construction activities are possible and may result in additional traffic impacts.
  • Please use caution, follow posted signage, and allow extra travel time when traveling through the area.
