Overview
Detour Notice
The southbound I-15 on-ramp at 9000 South will be closed during overnight work hours (9 p.m. to 5 a.m.) as early as Wednesday, September 16, for two nights while crews perform pavement maintenance and repairs.
Motorists wishing to access southbound I-15 from 9000 South should enter northbound I-15, continue to 7200 South, exit, and return to southbound I-15.
Drivers should expect minor delays and plan additional travel time. Closure dates are subject to change due to weather or field conditions.

Ongoing Work
This week, crews completed pavement repairs in the northbound inside (left) lanes of I-15 and continued work in the southbound outside (right) lanes. Work included repairing deteriorated concrete pavement through full-depth slab replacements, partial-depth repairs, and structural pothole repairs to help extend the life of the roadway and improve driving conditions. Crews also began preparations for an upcoming polymer overlay in the northbound inside lanes.
Upcoming Work
September 12-17
Crews will continue concrete joint maintenance and pavement marking work in the northbound left lanes. This will complete this phase of the project.
Once crews complete the northbound left lanes, work will resume in the northbound right lanes with pavement grinding and joint maintenance.
Finally, crews will continue pavement grinding and concrete joint maintenance in the southbound right lanes to help improve ride quality and extend pavement life.
At 9000 South and 10600 South, crews will repair damaged concrete in the inside lanes.
The 9000 South southbound on-ramp is expected to have overnight closures as early as September 16 for several nights while crews perform concrete joint work. Closure dates may change based on weather and field conditions.
September 20-24
Crews will continue pavement grinding and concrete repairs in the northbound right lanes.
In the southbound right lanes, crews will continue concrete joint maintenance.
The 10600 South southbound off-ramp is also expected to experience overnight closures for several nights beginning as early as September 20.
Later in the week, the 10600 South northbound on-ramp is expected to be fully closed for several weeks beginning as early as September 22 while crews perform pavement grinding. Dates are subject to change. All nearby off and on ramps will remain open during the ramp closures.
Additional work will occur near the 9000 South off-ramp, including storm drain improvements, grading activities, and concrete flatwork.
On the 10000 South bridge, crews will apply protective coating to the parapet wall and complete expansion joint work. These improvements help protect the bridge from weather and daily wear while maintaining a smoother transition for motorists traveling across the structure.
Traffic Impacts
Drivers should expect lane closures and possible delays during construction hours. Please slow down, follow posted signs, and plan a little extra time when traveling through the area.

Stay Alert: Pay close attention to signs, signals, and flaggers directing traffic through the construction zone.
Reduce Speed: Follow posted speed limits in construction zones to ensure the safety of workers and other drivers.
Avoid Distractions: Refrain from using mobile devices, eating, or engaging in other distractions while driving through the construction area.
Follow Lane Changes: Adhere to lane changes and merge instructions promptly and safely.
Keep a Safe Distance: Maintain a safe following distance from the vehicle in front of you to allow for sudden stops or changes in traffic flow.
Overview
This project is a high-volume preservation project on I-15 from 10600 South to 9000 South (MP 294 to MP 296), spanning approximately two miles from South Jordan to Sandy City. This project will include roadway concrete repairs, evaluation and replacement of pedestrian ramps, removal of existing substandard signs, high-visibility striping, and pothole patching and polymer overlay at 10000 S Bridge. This project will help increase public safety, improve roadway conditions, and expand mobility.
Schedule
Construction began on April 6, 2026. To minimize travel impacts during construction, crews will shift travel lanes and/or close them incrementally as they work to repair the road and enhance the highway. The public is encouraged to visit the UDOT Traffic website or app at udottraffic.utah.gov for the latest closure status and construction updates.
What to Expect
Night work will occur from 9:00 P.M. to 5:00 A.M., Sunday through Thursday nights, for the duration of the project.
