Overview
Project Overview
UDOT is in the design phase for a pavement preservation project on SR‑224 between Bear Hollow Road and Olympic Parkway in Summit County. Construction is anticipated to take place in 2027. This work is intended to keep the roadway in good condition and ensure it continues to safely and reliably serve residents, visitors, and regional traffic.
UDOT maintains pavement by using proactive treatments that protect the pavement surface from damage caused by weather, traffic, and seasonal freeze-thaw cycles, avoiding major deterioration and reducing the need for more costly reconstruction in the future. Pavement preservation is important because it keeps roads safer, smoother, and more cost-effective over time, while minimizing long-term disruptions.
This project is part of a series of improvement projects along Parley's Canyon and the I‑80 corridor, where multiple upgrades are being coordinated to modernize the roadway and support future growth. More information on regional projects can be found on the Summit County & Parley's Canyon website.
