700 East Shared-Use Path Project

Project Update – 2025

Improving Safety, Access, and Connectivity in Salt Lake City

The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) has completed construction of a new shared-use path along the west side of 700 East (State Route 71) between Parley’s Trail at 2100 South and 1300 South in Salt Lake City. This new path creates an important regional trail connection that improves mobility, safety, and accessibility for pedestrians and cyclists alike.

Project Highlights

  • New shared-use path on the west side of 700 East, connecting Parley’s Trail to Liberty Park

  • ADA-compliant pedestrian ramps for improved accessibility

  • Shortened pedestrian crossings at minor intersections for increased safety and walkability

With construction now complete, crews are focusing on final landscaping efforts, including:

  • Tree planting along the corridor

  • Irrigation system restoration to support ongoing maintenance

🌳 Landscaping and tree installation is anticipated to begin in Fall 2025.
