Study Overview
The Utah Department of Transportation has started the Carbonville Road Trail Study. This is a feasibility study and state environmental evaluation for developing a trail connecting downtown Helper to Price. This proposed trail will provide a safe, comfortable, and reliable option for walking, biking, and scooting for the Carbon County community. The study will select a preferred trail location from among three alternatives:
- U.S. Highway 6/Carbon Canal
- Price River
- Carbonville Road/Spring Glen Road
Project Details
- This study is funded by the Utah Trail Network (UTN), which is a program funded by the state legislature and administered by UDOT to build, operate and maintain a paved regional trail network. Learn more: https://utahtrailnetwork.udot.utah.gov/
- The study will identify a preferred alignment, associated costs and potential timeline for completion.
- The project team will consider several alternatives for the trail location.
- This study aims to identify a preferred trail location that provides separation between users and motor vehicles improve safety and comfort for cyclists and pedestrians.
- Public feedback gathered throughout the project will help narrow down potential alternatives and guide the development of design concepts.
- The location of the trail has not yet been selected. Trail location options have been proposed to discuss with the community and property owners.
- Any property acquired for the completion of the trail will be acquired from willing sellers. UDOT will not use eminent domain to build Utah Trail Network facilities.
Study Goal
Identify a practical, feasible, and fundable trail location that appeals to the most significant number of users providing a safe, scenic, and pleasant experience.
