2000 West; West Point to Clinton
Project Overview
The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT), in coordination with the cities of West Point and Clinton, has initiated a roadway widening and improvement project on 2000 West (SR-108) between 300 North in West Point and 1800 North in Clinton. The project will widen 2000 West from three to five lanes and add curb, gutter, sidewalk and a multi-use path to improve safety and accessibility through the corridor as well as promote active transportation. In addition to roadway widening, intersection improvements will be made at 800 North, 1300 North and 1800 North.
An Environmental Re-evaluation was completed to review and refine the proposed alignment and preliminary design outlined in the Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) completed by UDOT in 2008. The public had an opportunity to review and comment on recommendations and UDOT will work individually with affected homeowners to address impacts and acquire the needed property. The environmental study has been completed which was followed by final design through summer 2022 and construction in fall 2023.
Project Notices
The Environmental Re-evaluation analysis has been completed and DRAFT documentation is available for public review. The study reviewed and refined the proposed alignment and preliminary design outlined in the Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) completed by UDOT in 2008. It also analyzed the impacts of the Refined Selected Alternative resulting from changes and completions of the project design and the previously known and newly identified environmental impacts in the project area.

Frequently Asked Questions
In 2008, UDOT completed an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for the SR-108 corridor which recommended widening the roadway to five lanes from Antelope Drive in Syracuse to 1900 West in Roy/West Haven. SR-108 is also known as 2000 West in Davis County and 3500 West and Midland Drive in Weber County. Open houses were held throughout the study to share information with the public and receive comments. Following EIS completion, UDOT determined that the proposed improvements would be built in phases based on available funding. To date, SR-108 improvements have been completed between Antelope Drive in Syracuse and 300 North in West Point and from 4275 South to Hinckley Drive in Roy/West Haven.

The project has been advertised and is awaiting contractor selection
This project is another example of UDOT’s commitment to keeping Utah moving now and in the future, to improve quality of life and to accommodate the ever-growing needs of our state. It is a continuation of UDOT’s efforts to improve north/south mobility in western Davis and Weber counties, specifically the 2000 West corridor that has been widened through the 300 North intersection in West Point.
UDOT is committed to providing safe and efficient traveling experiences for commuters of every kind including motorists, pedestrians and bicyclists.
Economic vitality is important to UDOT and the local municipalities and will be a guiding principle during design and construction. This includes maintaining short- and long-term access and functionality to businesses along 2000 West. Planned roadway improvements will provide easier access to the commercial district, supporting UDOT’s Strategic Direction to strengthen the economy.
UDOT is partnering with the cities of West Point and Clinton to make additional improvements to local utility infrastructure to reduce future construction-related disruptions to the community.
Residents with questions may contact the project public involvement team by calling 385-955-2846 or emailing 2000west@utah.gov.
Final project design is completed and construction is expected to begin by fall 2023.
UDOT has been purchasing property along the corridor since the completion of the EIS in 2008. As the road is widened, the need to purchase property (full/partial acquisitions and temporary construction easements) from property owners adjacent to the corridor will be identified. Team members will coordinate directly with property owners to discuss property acquisition needs and process.
2000 West includes properties that by age, may qualify as historic. These potential historic properties will be researched, and for eligible properties, it will be determined what effect the project will have. The project will work to minimize impacts to the eligible historic properties and document any impacts with the State Historic Preservation Office.
