Taylorsville City in coordination with the Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT), is improving mobility and safety along Redwood Road between 4100 South and 5400 South (Taylorsville City, Utah). This corridor has a significant amount of traffic and experiences vehicle conflicts, crashes and congestion due to its many commercial and public accesses. The purpose of this project is to improve traffic flow and safety, remove obstructions near the road and enhance Redwood Road corridor.  

Lane shifts and closures will be in place on the west side of Redwood Road from approximately 4100 South to 5400 South while crews install equipment for new electrical services and perform driveway reconstruction activities.

 

Right turns in and out of businesses on the west side of the road will be maintained during construction.

  • Crews will continue reconstructing new concrete driveways on the west side of Redwood Road from approximately 4100 South to 5400 South through mid-October.
    • Southbound lane shifts on the west side of Redwood Road will remain in place during these activities.
    • Business access will be maintained with intermittent access restrictions expected to take place.
  • Right turns in and out of businesses will be maintained during construction.

  • Crews have begun performing construction activities for power reconfiguration throughout the corridor.

5000 South (Smiley Drive) to 5400 South

  • Crews will continue installing the right-turn pocket on the east side of Redwood Road in front of Taylorsville High School through mid-October.
  • Northbound lane shifts will continue to take place intermittently while this work continues.
  • Drivers are advised to access Taylorsville High School via Warrior Way to avoid congestion on Redwood Road.
  • Crews will continue work on trench-related activities on the west side of Redwood Road through late September.
  • Intermittent access restrictions can be expected while this work takes place.

PROJECT OVERVIEW

  • Installation of right-turn pockets 

  • Consolidation of commercial and public accesses

  • Removal and reconstruction of curb and gutter, driveways, sidewalks, pedestrian ramps, roadway signage

  • Installation of pavement markings, drainage modifications and utility relocations

  • Relocation of overhead powerlines and power poles underground

  • Installation of bus pullouts, pedestrian benches and shelters at the UTA bus stops

  • Installation of wider park strips and improved aesthetics with landscaping​
