Project Overview

The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) is working on a safety improvement project on S.R. 111 in Salt Lake County. Improvements include removing the railroad bridges at 5500 S. and 7600 S., eliminating choke points and improving shoulders. Work will take place Monday through Friday, 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. with occasional nights and weekends. Plan ahead for possible travel delays and use alternate routes when possible. Construction is anticipated through late summer 2022.

What to Expect Overall

  • Short-term travel delays
  • Road closures and alternate routes
  • Speed limit reductions in work zones
  • Noise, dust, and vibration
  • Lane closures with temporary traffic signals

Current Update

7600 South Bridge Area

  • In order to take advantage of favorable weather conditions and complete this project, we have cancelled the full road closure planned for this weekend. We are advancing our paving schedule with the following construction actives over the next few days.

  • Placing concrete barrier and preparation work

  • Heavy equipment and paving machinery Wednesday – Friday
  • Flaggers directing ONE-WAY TRAFFIC
  • from 7800 South to 6200 South
  • Speed reduction
  • Short delays
  • Weekend work may include sign placement and roadway striping

Drivers be aware of changing lane configurations, lane closures and reduced speeds.

Expect noise, dust, and vibration associated with this work during daytime hours.

A soil nail wall provides stability to the slope and reduces the risk of soil movement.
