Overview
Project Description
To extend the life of 700 East (State Route 71), the Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) will resurface the asphalt, replace existing raised medians, and upgrade non-compliant ADA pedestrian ramps along 700 East (SR-71) between 400 South and 1700 South in Salt Lake City. Construction is expected to begin as early as June 29, 2026. This work will help keep the road smooth, last longer, and make your daily drive more comfortable.
No major changes to the design of the road are expected. The same number of lanes will remain when the project is completed.
What to Expect:
Impacts will include traffic shifts, lane closures, intermittent access limitations and an increase in nighttime noise. Bike lanes will be closed and there will be no on-street parking during construction. Drivers should expect delays and use alternate routes when possible.
What you’ll see after construction:
- A smoother roadway built to last another 5–10 years
- Improved safety for all road users
