Upcoming Work
Temporary Traffic Pattern Coming Soon at I-15 & 5600 South (SR-97)
As part of the I-15 interchange construction, a temporary traffic pattern– commonly referred to as a "Thru-U"– will be implemented at 1900 West and 5600 South. This configuration is expected to be in place for approximately 3 months, starting the weekend of July 18.
Whats Next:
- All I-15 on and off ramps at 5600 South will be closed on Friday, June 27 from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. This one night closure is needed to accommodate the first phase of the temporary configuration.
More information will be shared in future updates to show drivers how to navigate these temporary routes.

I-15 at 5600 South - Bridge Beam Installation Highlights
Over the course of four nights, approximately 20 dedicated crew members installed eight bridge girders (beams) on the new I-15 structure at 5600 South earlier this month.
Each girder weighs about 118,000 pounds and spans an impressive 211 feet. Using large cranes designed for heavy lifting, skilled professionals ensured each beam was safely and accurately positioned to meet engineering standards. Ironworkers played a vital role in fabricating and installing the steel beams, contributing to the bridge's safety and durability for vehicles and pedestrians. Despite colder temperatures, the crews used advanced equipment and techiniques to navigate challenging weather conditions while maintaining safety standards.
Check out some of the highlights below from the project, including the use of cranes, hands on application, and advanced equipment to complete work under challenging conditions.
How can I utilize the pedestrian bridge across 5600 South?
Crews are hard at work on the brand-new pedestrian bridge in Roy City. We're excited for you to start using it! Check out the animation below to see how you can take advantage of this addition to the community.
The bridge over 5600 South is scheduled to be open to pedestrians in spring 2025.
